A pioneer is defined as someone who is “the first to open or prepare—a way, settlement or region—thus opening it for occupation or development by others.” In other words, a pioneer goes first. Before everyone else. They are selfless, assertive and forward-thinking. A leader.
In that moment—at a dinner with old friends that should have been filled with joy and celebration—I found myself in a very tangling situation. I put on a brave face and pushed through. The last thing I wanted to do what ruin the evening for everyone else. But honestly, I’m so tired of just pushing through. Even more, I’m frustrated that my self-worth is still so easily tangled.
Today is day 31 of waking up at 5am. I’m less tired but still a little cranky. I’m tempted to curl back up into bed, but it’s getting easier. I’m making progress, I tell myself as I walk into the kitchen, pour my coffee and head to my desk.
This is how habits are born.
